Why Cleansing the Liver is Key?

Last night I made a very tasty side dish
using squash, onions, garlic and turmeric,
all foods that assist the cleansing of the
liver… as you know this is the major fat
burning and detoxification organ.

The liver is an organ that commonly gets
overworked thanks to all those toxins our
body receive from the environment and
foods, day in and day out.

The good news is that the liver is the
only organ that has the ability to
regenerate itself, did you know that?

There are many ways to maintain a happy
and well functioning liver and among
the most popular are vegetable juicing
and coffee enemas.

But, what if you don’t feel too inclined
to any of those?

Easy! Simply add to your diet more foods
that assist liver detoxification
such as:

Squash and yams, foods rich in
B vitamins which improve the function of
the liver by assisting fat metabolization.

Garlic, a powerful food rich in
selenium and allicin which help the
liver to flush out toxins.

Avocado, one of my favorite because
its flavor and texture. Avocados are rich
in glutathione-producing compounds and
glutathione is necessary for this organ
to get rid of toxins.

Lemons and limes, fruits rich in
vitamin C, an important vitamin that
assists the body in synthesizing toxic
waste. Drinking a glass of freshly-squeezed
lime or lemon juice in the morning
stimulates the function of the liver.

Grapefruit. Also high in vitamin C.
This fruit rich in antioxidants boosts the
the natural cleansing properties of the
liver.

Remember that grapefruit can slow down
the metabolism of certain prescription
drugs and interferes with thyroid meds..

Iron, calcium, vitamin C and fiber can
interfere with thyroid hormone absorption,

so any food or supplement containing any
of these should be taken three hours away
from meds.

Other things you can do to maintain a
strong and healthy liver are:

To stay away from chemical-loaded products
such as skin care products, pesticides,
processed foods and rancid oils.

To drink plenty of water all day long.

And, in regards to herbs, dandelion and
burdock root (which I’ve used in the past)
can also be of help.

Keeping your liver in tip top shape is
very important not only to shed the
extra weight much easier…

The function of the liver can affect the
body in many different ways and plays a
role in skin problems, diabetes, thyroid
disorders, high cholesterol, headaches,
mens’ prostate problems and hypertension.

As you can see, cleansing your primary
fat burning organ is essential for assuring
your health!
